The most famous of all the carpet weaving nations commonly called Persian rugs and carpets. However, there is a huge domestic market within Iran which means we are competing with local store owners for suitable pieces. This has pushed the prices up to such a point that it makes India, Pakistan and Afghanistan excellent value. Earlier Persian conquerors taught these countries how to weave wonderful rugs so that quality wise they can exceed their Persian originals at a fraction of the price. However, we concentrate on beautiful tribal and village rugs from Iran, usually older pieces with a wonderful patina that only age can bring.
